L397, the Alenquer Tiger pleco, is a Panaqolus from the Rio Curuá-Una in Pará, Brazil, exported through the town of Alenquer. It's recognised by the dense wormline pattern on its head and the pale edges to its black stripes. Adults reach roughly 10–15 cm, depending on the source.

Like other Panaqolus it eats mostly wood and plant matter, so give it driftwood to rasp. Keep it at about 26–30 °C and pH 6.0–7.0. In a New England winter a tank in a cool room needs a reliable heater to hold that range.

It has been bred many times in aquariums, and small groups are recommended.

Part of our Fancy bristlenose plecos. Also: L134 Leopard Frog pleco · L128 Blue Phantom pleco · L114 Leopard Cactus pleco · L025 Scarlet Cactus pleco · L018 Gold Nugget pleco · L144 blue-eye bristlenose · Super red bristlenose · Longfin bristlenose · Albino bristlenose.
