Pioppino mushroom kit

Pioppino, Cyclocybe aegerita, grows in clusters of convex brown caps 3–10 cm across on slender stems with a ring. Young caps are reddish-brown. In the wild it rots poplar and other broadleaf trees.

It's a staple of Southern European and Chinese cooking, used fresh or dried in stir-fries, soups and stews, and keeps a firm texture when cooked.

Growers disagree on temperature: some strains fruit best at 55–65 °F, others at 65–72 °F, so check the kit's instructions. See our grow-kit guide.
