Inchelium Red seed garlic

Reserve or join the waitlist

Inchelium Red is an artichoke softneck, usually traced to the Colville Reservation in Washington State. It won a Rodale Kitchens garlic tasting in 1990. Bulbs run 2.5 in or more, with 10–12 large cloves and few tiny ones, and a medium flavour.

Thick wrappers help it store well. Softnecks don't send up a scape, so there's no scape to cut in June.

Plant cloves in Massachusetts from mid-October to early November; see our garlic planting guide.
