Metechi seed garlic

Reserve or join the waitlist

Metechi is a marbled purple stripe hardneck with 5–7 very large cloves and a very hot flavour with a long aftertaste. It probably comes from the Republic of Georgia.

It grows vigorously, is one of the last garlics harvested each summer, and stores firmer and longer than most of its group. A near-identical garlic is sold as Bogatyr.

Plant cloves in Massachusetts from mid-October to early November; see our garlic planting guide.
