Apistogramma macmasteri
Apistogramma macmasteri is known only from the Guatiquía and Metica basins of the upper Río Meta in Colombia. Males reach about 5.5 cm, females 4 cm. An ornamental red form is also in the hobby.
Like other Apistogramma it spawns in caves, with the female caring for eggs and fry; the male may need moving out. Keep it at 24–28 °C, pH 5.5–7.0, in soft water. See our guide to keeping tropical fish through a New England winter.
