Endler's livebearer (pure strain)

Reserve or join the waitlist

Endler's livebearer, Poecilia wingei, comes from a few lagoons in north-eastern Venezuela and was formally described in 2005. Males are only about 2.5 cm. The IUCN listed it as Endangered in 2024, and one wild population is thought to be extinct.

It crosses freely with guppies and the offspring are fertile, so pure stock is scarce; hobbyists label documented pure lines "N-class". It's prolific, with broods of 5–25 every 23–24 days, and likes warm, hard water: 24–30 °C, pH 7.0–8.5. See our guide to keeping tropical fish through a New England winter.
