Boraras brigittae (mosquito rasbora)
The mosquito rasbora, Boraras brigittae, comes from south-western Borneo and reaches about 2 cm. Its peat-swamp habitat is under threat from plantations and development.
It breeds in a dim, mossy tank in soft, acidic water (pH 5–6.5); eggs hatch in about two days. Keep it at 20–28 °C. See our guide to keeping tropical fish through a New England winter.
