Mosura Crystal Red shrimp

Mosura is a pattern at the very top of the Crystal Red grades. The body is almost entirely white, with a small red crown on the head and red only on the legs, antennae and rostrum. There is no red banding on the body at all.

It's a selected pattern rather than a separate genetic line, picked out of high-grade lines in Japan and Taiwan. Every modern Crystal Red traces back to the red bee shrimp selected by Hisayasu Suzuki in Japan in the early 1990s.

Graders look hardest at the white: a dense, chalky, solid white scores far higher than a thin white that lets the shell show through. Care is the same as for other Crystal Reds: soft, acidic water over an active soil.
